OLD_RODENT_ROOM_4

This is a pic of the mouse rack......which is actually my "rat mom" birthing rack..........there is also a wooden home made job there too. It works just like the other racks do.......the tubs are smaller and only hold 1.2 breeders or two birthing moms.........it was free-be..........I kinda feel sorry for it......:)

You can see that there is an oil filled electric heater there as well.......this just takes the chill off of the room in the winter time.........having thousands of rats in one room can create its own heat "no problem".......Summer time is brutal.......I use swamp coolers to keep the air around 75 degrees.........large scale rat rooms need major Rodent room...........ventalation.......I use fans on the floor to move the air around the room........and in the ceiling are exaust fans that can be set on a timer........or run 24/7........which ever I prefer........you can also see the 5 gallon water buckets on the top of one of the racks.........I have one bucket for each rack.......they usually need to be re-filled every 2 days.........one time a month the buckets and water lines are cleaned with bleach........I also add a very small amount of bleach to the water the rats drink......this cuts down on bacteria and keeps the rubber lines and sippers from clogging up with "rat cheese"........
